Nice job Matt, I specifically try to have a discussion with outside of Hostboard so as not to inundate the forum with non-Super-8 issues, and you sling it back onto the forum, forcing me to reply here.
When Chas out of the blue just posted issues he had with me that had nothing to do with Hostboard, I was upset, it was petty, uncalled for, and did nothing to promote anything about Super-8.
I used the f-word in a response post to Chas on Hostboard because he personally attacked me, I immediately realized Chas wasn't worth it, and I immediately deleted the f-word and re-edited the response I made to him.
Perhaps timing is everything, Matt found the version on Hostboard, reprinted the f-word.
What frustrated me was Matt's post was an hour after mine...yet I had deleted my post within a few minutes of originally posting it.
Of course, Matt never questions the original flame that caused my reaction, he focuses just on my reaction.
Now perhaps as much as another hour later, others now comment on my f-word that only exists on Matts post, because by now, it definitely has been removed from the system and my topic post.
Now, I thought we had all spoken to this topic and it was over, instead, Matt now brings up e-mails that I sent because the f-word was still on Matt's post, but nowhere else.
Everything Matt is talking about now is old news that has been over for a few days.
To set the record straight, Here are the two e-mails I sent to Matt verbatim, with his replys.

I immediately deleted the post you attributed to me.
If you had simply rechecked the quote you used, you would have seen it was no longer there.
Quite petty and vindictive of you.

Well, I don't know why you think I have the responsibility to recheck
anything, I went on the forum, read the message, and posted my reply.
Do you think I'm psychic and I should have known you were in the process of
deleting it?
And that's irrelevant, since you DID post it, not me, and that fact you
seemed to have a guilty conscience enough to remove it later, would seem to
indicate that you realize that it is YOU who is petty and vindictive towards
the other poster, to have left at all.
And I don't like being called a moron, OK.
I've had lots of disagreements with you on the forum, and many times I agree
with you also, but I've never called you any names, so try to have a little
class & knock it off.

uh, in my previous e-mail to you, i specifically said I immediately deleted it.
How nice of you to ignore the original flaming post that caused my reaction. but typical.

Well two things.
1. If you immediately deleted it, then how did I read it?
Obviously, it was still there when I got onto the forum and read it,
otherwise it wouldn't be there, and we wouldn't be having this discussion,
right?
So I applaud you're deciding to delete it, but I had no idea you were, or
even could do this, so I don't know why you're harassing me like this.
So insinuating that I'm in the wrong, because you "immediately deleted it"
is ridiculous, because it was there when I read it, and besides, I had no
idea it was even possible to go back and edit one's messages.
In fact, how do you do it? I'd like to know. So that's the other reason I
had no idea you did it, or were going to delete it.
Again, if it was there when I read it, it was there, right?
2. I'm not excusing the insulting remarks the other shithead popped in
there, but I would have returned fire with something a little more
intelligent, but you came out with both barrels flaming.
My whole response was in context with the fact that I thought Brantley
forbid that kind of stuff. I was in no way sticking up for the other guy,
because I thought his remark was childish. It's just that I thought your
response was even more childish, and against the rules (I thought!).
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I'm truly sorry to the forum to have infest it with non-essential stuff, but Matt has accused me of "harrasing" him.
Please note that the moment Matt evoked the harrassment word, I never e-mailed him again....now, four days later, he makes it sound like I've bombarded him, and brings up an issue I no longer was discussing with him.
In fact, I respected Matt's wishes the moment he used the harrassment word and no longer e-mailed him.
I would like to point out that if Matt had used Hostboard editing tools that are supplied for every poster....even if he could see my post before the deletion had been made, it would not have allowed Matt to copy the text because delete instructions were already in place on my post.
Matt simply did it his way, cutting and pasting a deleted comment which Hostboard software WOULD NOT HAVE ALLOWED MATT TO COPY BECAUSE IT WAS IN THE PROCESS OF BEING DELETED.
I was upset at seeing something I deleted be used by someone who went around Hostboard protocol to copy the post.

Mattias, you managed to go completely in a circle with your post.
first you say actually agree with Alex somewhat, then say that you think I hate some of the contributors.
I hate no one here. But the louder Matt, Roger and Chas scream, the more attention they draw. If you say it long enough and hard enough, people will believe.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Roger, the issue of prototype work would make an excellent topic for Super-8 filmmakers.
Instead of going with the issue of the complexities of being involved in a prototype situation, you instead turned my comment about protoptypes into some kind of attack on you, when there was none.
If you would rather continue to go on and on and make this about you and me, and not about providing useful information to the forum at large...that would be a shame.
I brought up the prototype issue because it relates to what you are doing for Matt, and so others can learn about the pitfalls that will come up should they ever need to have a mod or prototype made for their own equipment.
In the world of Super-8, many filmmakers need aftermarket innovations. I'm truly sorry you think this is a personal attack on you rather than you seeing this as an opportunity to bring up useful information for the forum at large.

This is getting boring...
this is what I originally wrote which set Alex off:
"Of course...didn't you hear...Alex is finally going to make a new Super-8 film. The topic: a guy who spends 3/4 of his day sitting at the computer, posting on message boards.
The Super-8 Community anxiously awaits the results of what should be a masterpiece."
Like I stated before, if Alex views that as "slander" --which according to dictionary definition I provided earlier would be hard to prove, let him contact a lawyer. I'll happily provide my contact information.
Nice to know you think I'm a "shithead", Matt...

Gee, can that quote apply to you as well, Alex?

Chas, before you went off on me, what did I ever say against you.
And if you find anything, I GUARANTEE you will have made a nasty post that preceded the comment you attribute to me.

And I ask you, what is so terrible about making a joke about you spending so much time posting?
How does that affect your reputation as an editor, as a person? Huh?
Didn't think you could answer that. Methinks you have an overly sensitive skin.

This is all very odd...

Boy oh boy, what have we gotten into here!
Well, chas_ucla, I wasn't paying attention, I was just commenting off the cuff, I didn't realize it was you, I was just commenting sort of as if you were some anonymous entity for the sake of the discussion and the real topic of discussion, but obviously, you're not an anonymous entity!
Nevertheless, it was insensitive of me to say that about anyone, so I sincerely apologize. It was bad form.
I do not, nor did I ever think you were a shithead, honestly.
But I'm truly sorry for saying that.
I hope I haven't hurt your feelings.
I'll think before typing from now on!
(or maybe I should just excuse my actions by saying I deleted it later!)
Please accept my apologies...

I don't think I'm being overly sensitive.
Your "comment/accusation" regarding me does not motivate me in the least to explain my life to you.
I reserve that for people who show respect and class.
If I don't respond to your ill-worded comments regarding me, you keep insisting it was nothing harmful, and you, Roger, and Matt P. keep repeating the comment over and over.
If I do respond to your comments and prove you wrong, I wouldn't respect myself for having to stoop so low.
I think you could have phrased the question in a much better manner if you were truly curious rather than just wanting to be injurious.

Yes, folks, listen up. Alex, the bastion of "respect and class", is going to explain how to be considerate of other people's feelings.
For crying out loud, Alex, what Chas wrote was a JOKE. At your expense, perhaps, but a joke none the less.
You're right, Alex. Apparently you DO know how to kid, sometimes.
"Respect and class"; now THAT'S funny. http://www.hostboard.com/ubb/wink.gif
